Due to the effect of COVID-19, the Immigration Bureau of Japan has decided the special measures regarding the expiry date of issued Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
VALIDITY OF COE
The COE issued during the specific period will be deemed to be valid until the period below;
- COE issued between January 1st, 2020 and July 31st, 2021: Until January 31st, 2022.
- COE issued between August 1st, 2021 and January 31st, 2022: Valid for 6 months from the date of issue

NOTE: You will need to attach a letter issued and signed by your visa sponsor (employer or organization/entity/person inviting you to Japan) explaining that you will engage in the same activity as submitted at the COE application when you apply for entry visa with the COE at the Japan Embassy or Consulate-General during that period above.
